The Employment Application Form
Sorry but you can’t sit back on your laurels just because you have an excellent resume. Many larger companies require that you fill out an employment application form in addition to submitting a resume. It’s not unusual, in fact, to be handed an employment application form on your first interview.
Make sure you are prepared for it. How?
By knowing exactly what information you have on your resume (right down to the exact dates in your work history); by having a list of your references with your reference’s complete contact information; by carrying a pocket dictionary for those words whose spelling escapes you; by having your Social Security card available or at least memorized; by having access to your Driver’s License; by having complete contact information of former employment. Take a look at employment application forms beforehand to see the type of general information they require. Here’s a sample. Review a few others so you are prepared.
